ZLONGAME has announced Azurea: Song of the Sky, a fantasy MMORPG to launch for iOS and Android in 2022. The title has apparently been in development for five years, costing approximately 9 billion yen in that time. The game boasts a fantasy world with graphics comparable to console releases, “ground-breaking character creation”, with a wealth of “lifestyle elements”, revolving around a “heartbreakingly beautiful story”.
The “Cloud Continent” is home to a wide variety of races. It seems that on your way to becoming an adventurer, a sense of loss comes over you, but you don’t know why. In order to find out, alongside becoming a great adventurer, you take your very first step on a long journey. The world is a seamless world, apparently around the size of 200 soccer fields. The land, sky, and seas are free for you to explore, rendered with the most advanced Unity engine and lighting technology that will reproduce the weather, four seasons, and “flow of time” similarly to the real world.
From your base of operations in Azurea: Song of the Sky, head out into a world filled with unique NPCs with their own stories. The story supposedly is not a “single scenario”, with potentially different endings that differ based on your choices.
Character creation is one of the highly touted features, claiming over 400 possible adjustments for adults and younger, including tweaks to skeletal structure, hairstyle and hair colour. The face has six adjustable parameters you can move in four directions, or change their angle. At least 10 makeup options are offered, likewise adjustable to its minutiae. Over 20 hairstyles with options for mesh dyeing or gradients with the colour palette will be possible.
Whatever the case, this certainly sounds like a highly ambitious venture to put it lightly. Phones already find difficulty running Genshin Impact, a primarily single-player game with online elements. Consider a similar venture in Noah’s Heart, which itself has also boasted a massive open, seamless world.
