The long-awaited Ganyu and Zhongli rerun banners for Genshin Impact are the second most profitable banners the game has run, running just behind last year’s Raiden Shogun banner in China.
According to GenshinLab, the Ganyu and Zhongli rerun banners have collectively earned a total of USD 19,160,966 in the Chinese market in the 10 days since it started.
This puts them just over the Hu Tao rerun, which saw a revenue of USD 19,027,579 despite being a single character as opposed to the double-banner for Zhongli and Ganyu.
The two are also the highest earning rerun banner overall for China- the highest grossing banner is Raiden Shogun, dwarfing everyone with a whopping USD 27,509,058 in the same time period.
It’s no surprise that Zhongli and Ganyu’s banners are doing so well. Both are fan-favorite characters that also happen to be really high on tier lists for their toolkits, with the latter being especially requested for a rerun.
Considering both characters are in high demand, it makes sense that players would double-dip to pull for them, especially if they wanted them at max constellations.
What’s more interesting is the competition- the idea that Raiden Shogun, even only 10 days in, massively outclassed them in China, as well as Hu Tao with the near-equal levels of spending.
It should be noted this is a very limited scope for the playerbase, being limited only to Chinese iOS players. Still, considering how many characters here are also good in the game’s meta, it’s safe to assume that we’d see similar results globally across all platforms, too.
