We finally know a little more about getting cards in YuGiOh Master Duel, via new teasers dropped at Gamescom this week.
While most of the promotional materials shown was of various iconic cards in the game such as Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Exodia, there was an interesting tidbit at the end of it- that some cards would only be available via in-game events or purchases.
Sadly, this does crush some fan theories that YuGiOh Master Duel would give you a comprehensive library of cards up-front. Konami have still been tight-lipped over the exact nature of the game experience, though during its initial reveal it was teased that the game would be a different experience from YuGiOh! Duel Links.
Depending on your stance, the ability to buy cards in the game with real money might be a boon or a hindrance- after all, it’s not like there isn’t already an in-game economy in the YuGiOh TCG around buying the best cards. Personally, the fact that you’re buying them from the game itself and not via an in-game auction house where it might get jacked up is a good thing, considering how expensive some singles can get in the real world.
On another note it also looks like you’ll be able to choose mascot cards for your deck, with the teaser showing that you can even have the still-banned Pot of Greed cheering you on from the sidelines.
