After our previous report of a new Yu Gi Oh! Rush Duel title coming to Nintendo Switch, V Jump has officially named the title Yu Gi Oh! Rush Duel: Saikyou Battle Royale and given us a release window for the game.
The game has been announced for summer of this year, though no word has been given on a Western release. However, the name has given us plenty to speculate over.
For one, we know that just by the name the Yu Gi Oh! Rush Duel: Saikyou Battle Royale would be built around the Rush Duel system from Yu Gi Oh! SEVENS, the latest entry in the Yu Gi Oh! Anime series.
Although regular Yu Gi Oh! is already known for its incredibly fast pace on the higher levels, Rush Duels are supposed to be more of a return to simplicity for the series. The format is playable in Japan, with cards even produced for the spinoff gametype.
Part of how the duels work is that it reduces the number of monsters you can have on the field to 3, down from 5. It also removes the summoning limit, letting you summon multiple monsters in a turn but keeping the tribute costs for monsters above a certain level.
They’ve also introduced the Maximum Summon feature, which lets you summon powerful monsters made up of three components. Since Yu Gi Oh! Rush Duel doesn’t feature many of regular Yu Gi Oh’s other gimmicks like Pendulum, XYZ and Link summons, this is the way you’re going to get most of your boss monsters out.
