The new Yu-Gi-Oh series is getting its own videogame, called Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel. The game will be released on Nintendo Switch, although little has been shown regarding the upcoming title.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel was first announced at Jump Festa 2021 Online, an online livestream event. The game will be based on the current Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS.
For now, the game doesn’t even have a release date, let alone juicier details like the types of cards available, or whether you’ll be able to buy packs of cards similar to its mobile counterpart, Duel Links.

Judging by the name and the anime it was based off of, there’s quite a lot of unique gameplay to be expected out of Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel. For one, the game eschews a lot of traditional Yu-Gi-Oh! rules, allowing you to “Normal Summon” more than one monster per turn.
Additionally, you can also draw multiple cards, rather than the stock one per turn. The result is a much faster-paced game, without having to rely on specific deck builds to get lots of monsters on the board.
This isn’t the first time the game has added unique rules for the sake of its anime. In Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds, the game introduces Speed Dueling. This fictional ruleset is built for the game’s futuristic city, where the protagonists duel on bikes.
Konami will announce more about the game at a later date.
