PlayStation 5 versions of Falcom’s Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will launch this July 31 in Japan. Both games will be available physically and digitally at their own respective prices.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA released its PlayStation 5 version in North America during November 2022, following after in Europe in the same month. The PlayStation 5 version of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox followed a release on May 2023 in North America and Europe not long after.
With the announcement of the following titles releasing in Japan on PlayStation, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA surpassed 700,000 sold units worldwide across all its available platforms.
The plot of Lacrimosa of DANA centers the story of Adol as he is awakened from a shipwreck and thus stranded on a desert island. Unknown of its cursed nature, he and a band of fellow castaways build a village to survive and potentially find a way off the island.
Throughout his time on the island however, Adol experiences dreams of a strange maiden with blue hair.
Monstrum Nox then takes Adol on different journey as he is cursed by an unknown woman – turning him into a Monstrum, granting him abilities to exorcise monsters. In order to escape from the enclosed prison city of Balduq, Adol must make alliances with other Monstrums all with their own individual and unique traits and put a stop to the schemes of the Grimwald Nox.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox are available to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Microsoft Windows and Steam. Visit the special JP website for the PlayStation 5 versions of both games here.
