It looks like Ys VI Online will be coming soon to Southeast Asia, courtesy of VNG Games. The website might imply it’s a “global” release, but the pre-registration regions are pretty limited at time of writing.
The VNG Games Ys VI Online website is accepting pre-registrations from Vietnam and Thailand, with the other Southeast Asia countries – namely, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines – are marked as “coming soon”. The pop-up says to select a region to join local promotional events, which appears to include an alpha test for at least Vietnam, while Thailand gets some kind of gachapon machine for other prizes. If you try clicking on the buttons for the promotional events, they don’t appear to be functional unless you opt in from the aforementioned regions.
Pre-registration milestone rewards go up to 1 million, having already reached over 450,000 at time of writing. The “refund event” suggests that any early access tests will have in-app purchases, so even if your data gets wiped, you’ll be able to get that currency for the actual launch, however they decide to organize that.
The game’s Facebook page only says the game will be coming soon, so stay tuned. We’ll see if other publishers pick it up for other regions if this isn’t going Global global.
