Ys VI Online: The Ark of Napishtim has released a limited time trial for players to, well, try out the game for themselves ahead of its launch slated for Spring 2021. The Ys VI Online trial will be available until 11 March 2021, 23:59 JST, allowing players to explore up to the early parts of Port Rimorge. This free to play mobile title has been changed significantly from the PC version, one of them being Adol not being your playable main character. Instead, you can choose from four starting classes – Warrior, Mage, Ranger and Assassin – a quartet of original characters, to play the game.
This game seems to be touted as a “rebirth” of the original title. The way the classes work, you’ll be able to promote to another one once you reach a high enough level. Perhaps somewhat strangely, despite being called the Ranger, the class will have healing as its specialty. From the screenshots, it does look reminiscent of a mobile MMORPG.
In any case, we’ll have to see if the game will ever make it outside of Japan at a later date. One sure wonders where Adol has gone to this time, as the stalwart hero of the series…
