Vtuber fans in Malaysia can finally donate to their favorite streamers, as YouTube has finally turned on the Super Chat function.
Super Chats are like Twitch’s donations- letting you donate preset values to streamers, with different colors being attached to different price tiers.While the feature has been available in other countries for a while now, fans in Malaysia can finally take part in Super Chats too.

- RM3 – Blue
- RM6- Cyan
- RM15- Green
- RM30- Yellow
- RM60- Orange
- RM150- Pink
- RM300+ – Red
While any streamer with monetization on can receive Super Chats, they’re a particularly big deal in the Vtuber community- with many fans spending their money via Super Chats to get their messages read out by their idols, or as part of community activities.
Kiryu Coco, the highest-earning Super Chat member for Hololive, had a notoriously spend-happy fanbase, where they would spam cyan super chats any time she had to leave to go to the bathroom. Fans also created trends like “Rainbows”, where thy would send one of every tier of super Chat.
Similarly, new Vtubers, like Hololive EN’s Council, treat the activation of monetization as a big deal, celebrating the new level of fan interaction with special streams.
To access super chats, you can simply click under the the chat for any streamer that’s currently live, where you’ll be taken to a checkout page. You just need to input your credit card information, and you can send your donation along with a custom message.
It should be noted that Super Chats are a one-off donation, unlike Channel Membership, which is a recurring subscription.
