Colopl has just opened up pre-registrations for its upcoming game You Generation for the Android and iOS platforms. As part of the occasion, a second promotional video was also uploaded.
To recap, a teaser website for the You Generation project is also live, which you can visit here, along with associated official Twitter here. Despite the new trailer however, details are still very limited. From the way the teaser mentions “connecting” game and real life, it could be something akin to popular AR games like Pokemon Go for real life interactions, or even something on the experimental scale like Micro Vibration of Galapagos, the latter being a Japan-exclusive paid AR game. You Generation will be a free to play title with in-app purchases.
Augmented / virtual reality games can still be considered a relatively newer space, so it’ll be interesting to see how this project will take flight. Furthermore, for a game that relies on players having to go outside a lot, how the coronavirus pandemic will impact it will serve as a good case study. At least in the case of Japan where lockdowns are non-existent, this game should not be affected in any way, though a global launch should prove unlikely given the current circumstances.
