Nier: Automata and SINoALICE director, Yoko Taro, confirmed that he and Square Enix producer, Yosuke Saito, are currently developing two new games. This revelation came from the pair during Famitsu’s and V-Jump’s year-end game industry talk show.
Currently, there is no information regarding the title of the two games. Furthermore, Taro and Saito have not revealed whether or not the two games are within the Drakengard/Nier universe.
According to Saito, Taro initially approached him with a proposal around last year, intent on creating a particular game. The producer was strongly against the proposal and did not give the go-ahead for development. As a result, Taro delivered an hour-long presentation just to convince the reluctant Saito. Ultimately, Taro won him over, and the game went into development. However, as he looked back on this decision, Saito shared that given the chance to pull out, he would.
Besides the title that Saito is less than enthusiastic about, there is a different game which is in development that received full support from the pair. This other title is slated to release before the first one.
While we are definitely excited to hear more about these two titles, we can only wait for more updates from the two of them. Given the success of Nier: Automata, it is likely that Taro will have greater creative freedom for his future works.
Besides these two games, other upcoming titles from Yoko Taro are Nier ReIncarnation and Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139. The former will launch in February 2021 while the latter will release in April that same year.
