Jpop duo YOASOBI has put out a music video in collaboration with The Pokemon Company, celebrating the bonds between players and their rival in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
Titled Biri-Biri, the music video has 2.5 million views since its release on Saturday and features a fully CG story about the player trainer and Nemona, their rival.
The song is also available on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
Like a lot of YOASOBI songs it’s a pretty pleasant beat, set to some pretty charming lyrics- they’re all about having strong feelings about your bond with your rival, as well as some neat references to other Pokemon games as well.
The beat even references the Pokemon battle theme, borrowing its melody as part of the overall composition.
The music video itself follows the journey of the player and Nemona, starting from them getting their starters as they rotate their teams and ending with a Terrastalized battle between the two Pokemon.
YOASOBI is one of many musical artists who’ve been collaborating with Pokemon this year- multiple artists from DECO*27 to inubakamori have all published their own unique Pokemon songs, all covering the Pokemon IP with their own unique twists.
The duo have been particularly popular this year, having done the opening for popular seasonal anime like Oshi No Ko as well as, more recently, Frieren.
