It’s a beautiful day, and what better way to celebrate that than with some card games. We’re here at the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2023, which has been a weekend-long celebration of the popular card game.
The event’s held at the Tokyo Big Sight, an oddly fitting venue for a Yu-Gi-Oh! event with its pyramid-shaped building.
Even before the start of the finals events for games like Duel Links, Master Duel and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card game, there’s plenty for fans to enjoy. There’s merch stores where you can buy structure decks and packs and even get yourself an exclusive set of blue WCS2023-themed sleeves for your decks.
That’s not to say there isn’t some valuable loot to buy yourself, too- exclusively sold at the WCS2023 is the Duel Sets featuring Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician, the perfect gift for fans of the two iconic monsters.
Of course, there’s more to the event than just buying merch- there’s also a second set of exclusive deck sleeves, but they can’t be bought. These red WCS2023 sleeves can only be won by taking part in the events, which include a 3v3 duel format where losing will earn you enough sleeves for one player, or winning will get you sleeves for you and your whole team!
Additionally, you can also play games against the competitors themselves, winning yourself 10 red sleeves for your deck. Prizes aside, how often do you get a chance to duel some of the best players in the world?
While the main events are focused on Duel Links, the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and Master Duel, that doesn’t mean Rush Duel isn’t getting any love either. The Galaxy Cup is also present at the event, with a stage to watch gamepaly of the offshoot.
Now that the finals have started though, the crowds pour in to the main arena- with massive screens and even a sick musical performance of The Passionate Duelist from the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. It’s the kind of thing that brings a tear to the eye- considering how many people got into Yu-Gi-Oh! through the anime, it’s always nice to see it honored at the start of Grand Finals for the premier Yu-Gi-Oh event of the year.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship is a must-see event for any Yu-Gi-Oh! fan, and with the active scenes for Duel Links and Master Duel there’s more than enough ways to get into the game depending on the type of player.
