Xbox has partnered with Hololive to promote their services in Japan, a market not as heavily penetrated by Microsoft in the past.
While Microsoft had previously pushed for more awareness in Japan with last year’s Tokyo Games Show panel, they’ve finally turned to the best way to get more people in their products- Vtubers.
Hololive, one of the biggest Vtuber agencies out there has had an uptick in sponsored content, specifically promoting Game Pass- Microsoft’s subscription-based game service for both Xbox and PC. As of this writing, two of the Hololive talents, Shishiron Botan and Himemori Luna, have been doing sponsored streams of games available on the platforms.
With all the subtlety of a hammer, Luna even tried out Forza Horizon 4 and Microsoft Flight Simulator, two big first-party titles available on the service . Meanwhile, Botan recently streamed Gears 4, also available via the platform.
Hololive is fast becoming a go-to way to promote your game, with their rolodex of talents being a great way to promote popular games. Most recently multiple Hololive talents had also started streaming Monster Hunter Rise, and before that members of both Hololive and the male offshoot Holostars were given influencer access to the Guilty Gear Strive beta.
