[UPDATE 15th Apr 2025]In a recent development, Kuro Games has issued an in-game notice addressing one of the controversial changes. The developer acknowledged applying a hotfix on April 9, 2025, specifically targeting “issues with the performance of the enemy model for Fleurdelys in Weekly Challenge: The Wheel of Broken Fate.”

In an unexpected development, popular gacha game Wuthering Waves has implemented design changes to multiple characters, sparking concern of censorship among its community. Players recently discovered that both a limited banner character and a weekly boss received underwear design modifications in a recent update, with developer Kuro Games making no official announcement regarding the changes.

The alterations primarily affect the current banner character Cantarella, whose underwear design has been modified to be less revealing. The purple-haired Havoc heroine’s previous design featured higher-cut undergarments, which have now been adjusted to provide more coverage. In what appears to be a systematic change rather than an isolated incident, players on Reddit also noticed that the weekly boss character Fleurdelys has been updated with additional under-shorts that weren’t present in the original design.

The Wuthering Waves community response to the censorship has been mixed, with some players expressing frustration over what they perceive as unnecessary censorship of content that was already released. Others have speculated this might be related to rating considerations, with one X user suggesting these changes could be connected to a recent shift to a 16+ rating, potentially allowing the game to return to a 12+ classification.
Some community members have drawn parallels to a similar situation with competitor Zenless Zone Zero, which faced significant backlash last year after implementing measures to prevent players from viewing up-skirt angles of characters—a decision that was quickly reversed following community outcry.
