After running for under a year, Square Enix announced that it will be shutting down World of Final Fantasy: Meli-Melo, the mobile adaptation of the PS4 and PS Vita game World of Final Fantasy. Players have until 13 December 2018 to say their goodbyes to the game.
As a refresher, the game was first launched in Japan on 12 December 2017 to a rather warm reception. In case you forgot, World of Final Fantasy: Meli-Melo is a casual RPG which gathered iconic FF characters together in their chibi form. These characters are otherwise known as Mirages, and you access a Garden Dome in order to recruit them. The game had a unique battle system in which players are able to stack their Mirages atop one another in order to summon even greater Mirages during fights. One defining feature which made it stand out from the game it was based on is the inclusion of cooperative play.
Square Enix did not disclose the reason behind the service termination, so we can only guess what went wrong.
