World Flipper has announced the end of service for both versions of the game, bringing an end to the pinball-themed action mobile game.
The Japanese version of World Flipper is scheduled to end its services on February 20th, 2024.
After the announcement by the Japanese version, a notice acknowledging the news was also published by the global version, who also announced that the worldwide servers are expected to come to an end.
A date for the end of service for the global version has yet to be announced, as discussions on the specifics currently being underway.
After the end of service, the game will no longer be playable, but will be updated to allow players to view the characters and the world of the game with the app.
As for the Japanese version, the addition of new characters through gacha and events will be halted on November 30th 2023, but event-scheduled bosses and equipment will continue to release until mid-December, with some events and bosses becoming permanent features.
Paid content will also be made unavailable starting from December 18th 2023, with refunds for paid items being scheduled to be handled in accordance with the law after the service ends.
Refunds will only be applicable for unused paid Lodestar Beads and Mana, and using the paid items or uninstalling the app will make the player ineligible to receive a refund.
Details regarding refund period, refund method, etc. will be announced in an announcement at a later date.
Updates for the global version will still continue to roll out for at the same pace as before until further notice.
Revenue For World Flipper
According to AppMagic, World Flipper has amassed a total revenue of over 35 million USD in Japan with over 1.2 million downloads since its initial release date in November 25th, 2019 as of the writing of this article.
The game was successful during its launch, amassing over 8 million USD in revenue at its peak, but had a decline less than a year later, dropping to less than 2 million USD a month, with the last 6 months grossing less than 200k USD a month.
As for the global version, World Flipper has amassed a total revenue of over 9 million USD worldwide with over 1.5 million downloads since its initial release date in 2021.
Similarly to the Japanese version, the game also experienced success during its initial release, peaking at around 3 million USD in revenue, but declined to under 1 million USD by the before the end of 2021, and less than 100k USD over the past 6 months.
