Wonder Boy first came out in 1986 as an arcade game and has spanned over a few sequels on several platforms such as Master System, Sega Genesis and most recently, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
The game started out as a non-stop moving side-scrolling platformer to pressure players but Ryuichi Nishizawa, the designer could not play it, so he had it removed. Then, the first Wonder Boy game incorporates an element where players race against time but the following titles includes RPG elements and shoot’em’up gameplay.
Now, Lizardcube along with Playdigious and Dotemu has announced Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap for iOS and Android. The game was a remake of the 1989 game Wonder Boy III: The Dragons’s Trap and was redesigned by Lizardcube back in 2017 for PC and consoles.
The mobile adaptation will offer the same beautiful hand-drawn animation just like the PC and console counterparts and that’s not all because players feeling the nostalgia can play the game in 8-bit mode as well.
It’s expected to launch globally on May 30. For more information, you may head over to their official site. Have you played the game before or will it be your first when the game debuts? Let us know down the comments!
