The festive season is here and Winter Veil has returned to Hearthstone for another go. Starting from now until December 31, the event brings a new mode, questline and rewards for the festive season.
Returns and Exchanges
The Winter Veil event introduces a Returns and Exchanges mode exclusive for the festive season. The new mode features a much more fun and casual method of play compared to standard games. In this mode, players choose their hero and build their deck of 20 minions. Each deck will receive 10 random spell cards when the brawl begins.
When the match begins, each player will mulligan for an opening hand and then “gift” the rest of their deck to their opponents. This method can bring out some hilarious situations where the opponent receives a relatively bad deck. However, a catch exists when “gifting” the deck. Each player will only have 20 Health and receive a 5 mana Gift Receipt card upon exchange. When played, it refreshes a player’s mana crystals, swaps the deck again and destroys the opponent’s own Gift Receipt. Expect some strategies and plays around the card.
Players who win in the mode will receive a Winter Veil card back as a reward.
Gift Exchange
The Gift Exchange mode returns to Hearthstone for the event. For those who do not know, players smash gift crates to discover cards for their own or opponent’s hero. This mode also rewards the Winter Veil card back. Owners of the card back will receive a Classic Pack instead.
Winter Veil Wonder Bundle
For the festive season, Hearthstone introduces a new Winter Veil Wonder Bundle. The bundle includes six packs from Journey to Un’Goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne, Kobolds & Catacombs, The Witchwood, and The Boomsday Project. In total, the bundle offers 30 packs at a special price. Unfortunately, players who hoped for Rastakhan’s Rumble pack will be disappointed. The pack will not feature in the bundle due to it being new in the game.
