We reported about Torchlight: The Legend Continues a few days ago which the game is now in their pre-registration phase. Many of you might have no idea how the game would be or wonder will it ruin the original series, so we did a short gameplay on the Torchlight Mobile released a couple of months ago in China.
Torchlight: The Legend Continues is said to be based on China’s Torchlight Mobile (developed and published by Runic Games and Perfect World) but in an English version. From what you can see from the video, it is basically an ARPG which you can easily find a mobile game with similar features on the market now.
You can create your character from the 4 classes available – Ember Blade, Engineer, Kitsune and Assassin (non-official character class translation). Every class have their unique characteristics and skills that you can upgrade or enhance when you progress further in the game. You can also customize your character (hair colours and equipment).
The controls are adaptive while looking smooth and dynamic. Even through the movement controlling joystick appears at the left bottom side, but you can actually access the joystick at any part of the screen. While for the skill releasing mechanics, it is similar to most of the ARPGs out there so I think you can get the hang of it easily. Talking about its gameplay, there are several multiplayer game modes including the MOBA and PvP battles. You can trade loots and golds with other players too.
The game features pet system which you can get them by missions or the gacha system. Different from its PC predecessor, the pets are not longer just a supporter, they will now raise your damage and give out bonus stats. There are several rank and rarity for the pets too (well it is common for a mobile game with gacha system).
The graphics of the game isn’t very impressive (comparing to many of the ARPG with high-end graphics now) but it is good in another way – you don’t need a powerful smartphone to play the game. The more important thing is, its environment and UI designs are generally same as the original version.
Overall the game is good to play, but it might get boring after a long period of playing. And to be honest, it is obviously a P2W game so many of us might get disappointed. However these are only my opinion on the China version of Torchlight Mobile, we will see how the game roll out when it finally releases. Share your opinions below!
