Plot
Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance is confirmed to be taking place in the franchise’s Universal Century timeline, telling the story of the One Year War at the Eastern Front, also known as the Zeonic War for Independence which started on 3rd January 0079 U.C. and ends on 1st January 0080 U.C.
From the teaser trailers, the series will be taking place during the final months of the One Year War in 6th November 0079 U.C., which isn’t an uncommon setting considering other Gundam series also takes place during the same time frame, such Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt.
An oversimplification of the One Year War is that it takes place during the same time as the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime, and revolves around the conflict between the Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation.
Mobile Suits to Expect
One thing to note is that during the early months of the One Year War, the Earth Federation had no access to the Mobile Suits which rendered them at a disadvantage. Considering that the series is taking place in the final months of the war, fans can expect to see some of the Earth Federation’s Mobile Suits and how that led to their victory against the Zeon.
Some of the Mobile Suits that are present in the teaser trailer are the Zaku II and the Zaku Tank. While it is not confirmed, fans can expect to see other Mobile Suits such as Dom since the machine was in service during the specific time period. However, don’t expect to see the Earth Federation’s GMs, at least at the start of the show as the machine only enters service a month after the series takes place in.
Cast
Most of the cast for Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance is still a mystery, aside from the main character. Celia Massignham, known for her role as Hedy Lamarr in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be borrowing for voice for the English dub of Iria Sorari, who is an original character for the series.
