While Dungeon&Fighter / DNF Mobile has only been mentioned for a Korean release sometime in the first quarter of 2022, fans of the series could still hope for a potential global release. After all, Duel is planned for a Summer 2022 release, and it could be the right time to get on the hype train.
Following a ‘guerrilla test’ in South Korea, some details comparing the previous title with this upcoming one sheds some light on what you can expect for DNF Mobile. Considering its platform, automatic navigation to quest areas / NPCs should be expected, but it still remains an action game at heart that requires manual inputs. It’s not a bad thing in itself, simply that mobile titles tend to have ‘full auto’ capabilities. There is a combo system that will require a level of finesse as it is possible to get punished if you miss.
Depending on the device you play on, the screen size is likely a major concern. The test build had official gamepad support, and Bluetooth keyboard was also somewhat usable. You do lose out on the ‘portability’ aspect of the mobile platform if you do utilize these peripherals. We’ll have to see if there are plans for a PC client.
Story wise, it has a similar progression to the original, with the addition of new NPCs that could change the overall flow. Game modes appear to include instanced dungeons, cooperative raids, and two flavours of PVP: one being more competitive ranking, while the other being more ‘casual’ with usable items and reviving mechanics. The equipment system is simple for now, with refinements and equipment rarities to name but two. Whether it’ll get even more busy like the original remains to be seen. An Auction House system is also mentioned.
With all that said and done, keep an eye out for a potential global release!
