Warner Bros has officially announced their new cross-IP platform fighter titled Multiversus, which is a free to play platform fighter with an emphasis on 2v2 gameplay.
The game will be releasing some time in 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X and PC, and the website lists cross-play as one of the features for the game.
In the reveal trailer they broke down some key features of the game- as well as showing off characters who weren’t in the previously reported leak for the game.
It looks like the main game mode in Multiversus will be a 2v2 brawl, where you and your friend will team up against an enemy pair as well.
To this end, moves are described as being teamwork-centric- buffs from special moves can affect your teammate as well, as shown with Batman’s smoke bombs as well as Steven Universe being able to give shields to his teammates.
Multiversus Characters
- Finn (Adventure Time)
- Jake (Adventure Time)
- Batman
- Wonder Woman

- Bugs Bunny (Looney Tunes)

The biggest shocker is that the game would be free-to-play, though they didn’t explain how they planned to monetize it. That being said, skins are still a part of the game.
It looks like it’ll be using an XP progression system, whereby winning matches and completing challenges will give you character XP, unlocking more things for each character.
They’ve also been announced that the game would be using rollback netcode, putting it in a similar category as Nickelodeon All Star Brawl, though Multiversus will be using theirs server-side.
