Games Workshop has announced the first Warhammer 40K CRPG, titled Rogue Trader and based on the RPG of the same name.
Details of the game are sparse- but based on the gameplay shown you’ll have some serious branching paths, as your character can walk the path of an Imperial Guard or even become a Rogue Trader as you adventure through the galaxy.
What we do know, though, is when the game launches it will be doing so for both PC and Consoles, though the specifics of that are also still being kept in the dark by Owlcat Games.
Here’s the description of the game, courtesy of Warhammer Community:
Embark on a journey to the dark reaches of the Imperium in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, the first-ever cRPG set in the worlds of Warhammer, coming to PC and consoles. Award-winning developers Owlcat Games present an adventure full of fascinating characters, non-linear quests, and fateful decisions that will shape the outcome of your game.
Sadly, thanks to it being based on the Rogue Traders themselves, it looks like there won’t be any options to play as any of the other races in Warhammer 40K, though as previously mentioned it looks like you’ll have a wide array of Imperium picks..
Still, the trailer does show you’ll be meeting several of them- such as Eldar, Chaos and Necrons, if the stinger at the end of the trailer is anything to go by.
Like most CRPGs it looks like combat will be grid-based tactics, as you move your character akin to the Warhammer tabletop games.
