Games Workshop has announced the 10th Edition of Warhammer 40K, the sci fi offshoot of their tabletop miniatures game.
The edition is set to drop this Summer, though specific sets to accompany the edition have yet to be announced.
Revealed at the Adepticon livestream, Warhammer 40K 10th Edition is set against the backdrop of the fourth Tyrannic War- as the Imperium of Mankind fights off the Hive Fleet Leviathan.
Just as 9th Edition saw Space Marines fighting off Necrons, the main conflict of 10th Edition will feature them fighting off the Tyranids faction- with new models for both sides shown off.
These include updated Terminator models, as well as both new Tyranids as well as new sculpts for old classics, like the Termagaunts.
While they didn’t go into specifics, Games Workshop has said the core of 10th edition will be streamlining- they’ve repeatedly talked about making sure all your army rules would fit on two pages and all individual unit rules would fit on one.
Part of this involves removing army detachments- rather than having to squeeze your army list into pre set conditions (X number of troops, X number of Heavy Support, etc) you could have more free form detachments as long as you stayed within your points limits.
They’ve also said that core rules for all factions would be available for free digitally at launch.
