Since releasing in September of this year, Konami’s eFootball 2022 has been the worst-rated game on Steam, but now there’s a new contender for the worst-rated game on Steam and it’s called War of the Three Kingdoms.
War of the Three Kingdoms, not to be confused with Dynasty Warriors or Total War: Three Kingdoms is a strategy card game that was released for Steam on the 17th of December 2021 by Chinese developer Yoka Games.
The game is a free-to-play card game that is supposed to be similar to Solitaire. As you can guess it’s based on the Chinese classic novel Romance of The Three Kingdoms which is in turn based on the historical event.
The game’s user reviews however had been “overwhelmingly negative“. As of this article, there are 4,671 reviews of the game and 94% of them are negative. By comparison, only 86% of eFootball’s Steam reviews are negative. It’s not a lot better but it’s still something.
The main complaints with the game seem to be the enormous amount of bugs and the shameless use of microtransactions for pay-to-win mechanics. Despite being a free-to-play game, it is said that the game is almost completely unplayable without paying a hefty sum of money to gain access to certain characters.
Here are a few select reviews that explain their views of the game better than I could:
“There are serious BUG issues that affect the balance of the game, and the developer’s level is limited and cannot be repaired. It requires a lot of money to play the game. It takes about 10,000 US dollars to barely play the game. It is recommended not to play this game directly.” -阿姆斯特朗旋转炮
“DO not play this game, The game is run by the most disgusting game operator. The company has no integrity, no introspection, and no concern for player reviews. They don’t care about the experience, even fixing bugs. All the company cares about is how to squeeze money out of players. Trust me, never, never play this game!” -Azreal
