Vtuber Shirakami Fubuki wowed over 600,000 viewers last night during her daily Pokemon streams, after she finally caught herself a shiny Magikarp in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond.
The Vtuber has been doing a shiny-only run- meaning any new Pokemon she adds to her party has to be the rare shiny colored variant.
Ordinarily, the odds aren’t too bad about this- the community says your odds of getting a shiny Pokemon are roughly one in 4,096. But Fubuki had been facing a particularly bad string of RNG, as fans estimate that she was at over 11,000 Magikarp without having seen a single shiny one.
It’s not just on-stream, too. Other Hololive talents reported seeing Fubuki continuing her fishing off-screen, carrying her Switch with her whenever she had to go to Hololive headquarters.
As the Vtuber screamed in excitement realizing her most recent pull was a shiny Magikarp, her chat speeds up monumentally, with users commenting their own screams of elation at the discovery.
“Gold Magikarp exists for real!” she says, after being rendered speechless.
Comments even note that you can hear her about to say her reluctant catchphrase, “akai naa” (TL: It’s red), signifying another un-shiny Magikarp appearing.
After catching the Pokemon, Fubuki tweeted a thank you message, saying Santa had blessed her with the rare Pokemon.
“Thank you Santa!!!! And everyone else, thank you for supporting me for 27 days! Let’s enjoy the rest of the adventure together!”, the tweet reads.
Last night was a double-event for fans of Hololive’s friendly fox vtuber, as she also finally won her ongoing battle with Twitter over verification. Some fans even joked that Twitter was holding off on giving her a checkmark until she’d caught her Magikarp.
