The Steam version will support English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese subtitle options, all featuring Japanese voice acting. This release brings several enhancements to the classic visual novel, including retouched high-definition visuals with improved CG coloring optimized for modern LED displays. AIR first debuted on PC in Japan on September 8, 2000, and has since been ported to numerous platforms including Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, PSP, mobile devices, PS Vita, and Nintendo Switch.

AIR comes from visual novel studio Key, known for other beloved titles such as CLANNAD, Little Busters, and Summer Pockets. The story follows a young traveler named Yukito Kunisaki, who performs with a mysteriously animated puppet while searching for the meaning behind his late mother’s words. The narrative branches based on player choices, offering multiple endings to discover. The Steam version also includes AIR’s side story, “First Sky Chapter,” in visual novel format.

Although previous Windows versions of AIR lacked voice support, the Steam release adds full voice acting featuring performances by Hikaru Midorikawa (Yukito), Tomoko Kawakami (Misuzu), and other talented voice actors. The game also supports touch gestures for tablet PC and Steam Deck users, making this definitive version accessible across different devices. Fans of visual novels and newcomers alike will be able to experience this influential title when it arrives on Steam next month.
