Vindictus: Defying Fate Pre-Alpha Playtest Announced

Nexon has announced the Pre-Alpha Playtest date for their upcoming fast-paced action RPG, Vindictus: Defying Fate.

The Pre-Alpha Playtest will begin on 13 March 2024 at 6 pm PDT and will be available until 18 March 2024 at 1 am PDT. The test will be public and free-to-play for all players and is accessible through Steam.

According to the developers, the playtest will provide access to a build of the game that is still in a very early stage of development, which will feature:

• Demo-level play of combat
• Two playable characters – Fiona and Lann
• Regions based on early-world concepts
• Emotes
• Outfits

All of the above are featured for testing purposes.

The developers acknowledge the game is currently going through an early development phase, they also promised that future updates will introduce more content, including narrative elements, a growth system, character stats, items, and more.

To participate in the Pre-Alpha Playtest, you would need to:

• Log into Steam with your Steam ID and go to the Vindictus: Defying Fate Store Page
• Click the ‘Request Access’ button on the Store Page
• Click the ‘Game Play’ button on the Store Page
• Download Vindictus: Defying Fate Playtest from the library and run the game.

Furthermore, the development encourages all players who join the Pre-Alpha Playtest to provide feedback on the game by joining their official Discord server.

Now let’s talk about the two playable characters in the test, Lann and Fiona.

Lann and Fiona

Fiona is a versatile fighter armed with a longsword and shield. By using her shield to guard incoming damage while leaving her opponents open to counter-attacks, Fiona is ideal for players who prefer a more defensive playstyle.

Her unique skill, ‘heavy stander’, allows her to block all incoming damage with the shield, but only for a limited time.

As for Lann, he is a dual sword-wielding battler who can dodge attacks while retaliating with swift attacks of his own.

Lann primarily focuses on offensive skills and will be a great pick for any player who is looking for an aggressive playstyle. His unique skill, ‘Lann’s fury’, allows him to rush past the enemy along with a devastating slash attack.

Vindictus: Defying Fate is slated to release on Windows PC via Steam and consoles, though as of now, Nexon has not confirmed which consoles the game be coming to. Interested players can wishlist the game on their official Steam Page.
