Velvet Code is Game Hours and WeGames Japan‘s take on the Azur Lane formula, and will launch in Japan 16 February 2022. From that descriptor alone, yes, the game does indeed feature a variety of ship girls, and even plays similarly to its predecessor with real time action combat, except in 3D.
Pre-registration reward milestones were raised to 300,000 users which has since been met. This means at launch, you’ll be able to get the usual array of currency, upgrade materials, Rodney (CV: Ayaka Suwa) and, the latest addition, Yukikaze (CV: Sumire Uesaka), should you want to try out Velvet Code.
As usual, more information can be found via the official website and Twitter. Their Twitter has been previewing the ship girls you’ll be able to find in the game, besides the standard Japan-only giveaway campaigns. Besides the uncannily similar gameplay to Azur Lane, Velvet Code offers the also ubiquitous dorm system and character bonding to rest your girls and learn more about your favourite ones, besides training facilities for strengthening them.
We’ll have to see if the game garners enough popularity to warrant a global release, as it competes with the multitude of other ship girl gacha games out there in the open seas.
