Riot Games has officially announced the long-rumored VALORANT Mobile, confirming a partnership with LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS to bring the tactical shooter to mobile platforms. In a significant strategic decision, the game will first launch exclusively in China before expanding to other regions.

“It’s really happening. VALORANT Mobile has been announced with our partner LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS, and we’re bringing it to China,” Riot Games declared in an official post on X. “We’re excited to bring VALORANT Mobile to as many players as possible, but we’re starting in China and taking it from there. We will of course update you as our plans develop further.”
The announcement follows months of speculation after leaks and playtest footage began circulating as early as 2023. The formal confirmation came during Riot’s Season 2025 update, where Studio Head Anna Donlon revealed the project was “well underway” with “an amazing team” handling development.
LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS, best known for developing PUBG Mobile and recipients of awards from Google Play and the Golden Joystick Awards, appears to be a strategic choice for adapting VALORANT’s precise tactical gameplay to touch controls. A dedicated website for Chinese players is now available, though it is entirely in Chinese. The site allows Chinese users to pre-register for upcoming playtests and earn exclusive in-game rewards such as player cards.
According to translated announcements, VALORANT Mobile aims to maintain the tactical core of its PC counterpart while introducing mobile-friendly adaptations. The development approach suggests Riot is creating a tailored mobile experience rather than simply porting the PC version, with simplified mechanics designed specifically for touch controls.
While global release dates remain unannounced, this confirmation marks a significant step in Riot’s expansion of the VALORANT franchise into the lucrative mobile gaming market.
