UNIQLO has announced that they will release a new UT (UNIQLO T-shirt) collection of graphic T-shirts in celebration of the 45 year anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam series, which has captivated and inspired millions of people all over the world, including Malaysia.
All exclusive items will be made available starting from this May 5. This collection will include illustrations specially drawn by Kunio Okawara, mechanical designer and one of the creators of the infamous giant autonomous robot. Graphics from the first season of the Mobile Suit Gundam series, the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series will also be included, as well as the graphics from 2023’s Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.
Additionally, a UT original augmented reality project is also being released in concurrence with the release of the collection, which will allow users to see a Gundam standing before their eyes through the screens of their smartphones. Japan-based buyers will be able to use AR to view a dynamic life-size Gundam near seven selected stores. Gundam fanatics can look forward to this AR project while browsing through the T-shirt collection.
Four designs will be crafted for two pairs of black and white T-shirts. As mentioned, the back and front of different shirts will feature an exclusive illustrations by Kunio Okawara and graphics from renown titles.
