Embrace the time to lead an army to regain your reign as we unseal the lovely Unicorn Overlord Collector’s Edition to unveil the treasures within, sent to us by our friends at Epicsoft Asia.
Unicorn Overlord is this year’s big surprise, wonderfully standing on top of a pedestal with a fresh new take on tactics gameplay that is smart, unique, fun, and full of depth. Here with us is the Collector’s Edition of Unicorn Overlord, a small package packed with wonders to be uncovered.
Without further ado, let’s unseal the Unicorn Overlord Collector’s Edition to uncover the treasures within it, and perhaps there are Divine Shards to be found.
Ready to Lead an Army?
Opening up the box, you are greeted with even smaller boxes as well as the physical version of the game, which in our case, is a Nintendo Switch copy. Aside from the game, the Collector’s Edition comes with an artbook, a card game set, and a 16-bit arranged soundtrack album.
Let’s start up with arguably the coolest part of the Collector’s Edition, a card game set for some tabletop action. This neatly packed box is printed with the Victory screen from the game and includes a full deck of cards based on the diverse recruitable classes. Aside from the cards, the box also includes a guide on how to play as well as a Meeple figure and some dice to roll around.
Going 16-bit While Viewing Sweet Art
Moving to the 16-bit arranged music album, which as the name implies, re-arranges the wonderful soundtrack of Unicorn Overlord in old-school 16-bit sounds. The game has an amazing soundtrack, scored by Basiscape and Mitsuhiro Kaneda – the guys behind the music of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, which indeed also has a beloved soundtrack.
Of course, a Collector’s Edition would not be complete without an artbook. Feast your eyes upon amazing illustrations and sprite art of the characters and classes you met throughout the game! There are even short descriptions for story characters in case you have not met them yet.
And that is everything found in the Unicorn Overlord Collector’s Edition. Still on the fence about getting yourself a copy of Unicorn Overlord? In our 9/10 review of the game, we said: “Unicorn Overlord would likely be a highly influential entry in the tactical RPG genre – a pure tactics game that is innovative, deep, and satisfying, and it wants you to think, consider, and strategize, while being enthralled by Vanillaware’s hallmark jaw-dropping aesthetics and a head-bopping soundtrack.”
We also got a golden opportunity to interview Unicorn Overlord producer Akiyasu Yamamoto, who talked about the game being initially developed for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita and more, which you read here.
Unicorn Overlord is now available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
