Open-world action game, Unending Dawn, is now in development for the PlayStation 5 (PS5), alongside the previously announced Android and iOS release.
Coming from Chinese developer Parcae’s Fate Studio, aside from Unending Dawn now adding a PS5 version, a 7-minute gameplay trailer “The Flame of Faith, Everlasting” was also released.
Revealed last year, Unending Dawn is an upcoming open-world game for mobile devices that was quick to grab many potential players’ attention for its Souls influences.
The trailer description reads:
From the deep dark beyond reality, intangible beings emerge, and strange colors crawl across the sky, filling the land with malice and taboos.
Civilizations built on layers of history, faiths woven from lies, all that mortals take pride in, crumbled into ruins on the Day of ‘Unending Dawn.’
Yet, some tread the Path of Cognition, unreachable by ordinary folks, bearing the color curse that will ultimately destroy them, guarding the hope that sustains the world’s existence.
Color is both the source of danger and the genesis of hope. Which is your choice—the Red Of War, the Blue Of Eternity, or the Gold Of Destiny?
Hope remains, and the flame of belief burns everlastingly.
From its gameplay trailers, Unending Dawn features an anime aesthetic akin to the characters from popular gacha games such as Genshin Impact, Punishing Gray Raven, and so on, albeit with a bleaker atmosphere.
As combat starts, the inspirations from FromSoftware’s Souls-like titles, such as the Dark Souls series and Elden Ring, become ever more apparent, as enemies battle in highly anticipated patterns, while the player attacks with committed animations.
One notable aspect of the game is the deflect mechanic, which is straight-up inspired by Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice, with each incoming attack block with perfectly timed input contributing to filling up the opponent’s poise or posture gauge.
Once the posture gauge is filled up, the opponent will be stunned and you can unleash a powerful finisher attack for massive damage.
Worth noting, that aside from gameplay sneak peeks, no further details about the game have been revealed thus far, including its release date or whether it would be launched globally.
