Arc System Works has kicked off EVO 2023 with a surprise announcement for Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes, the next game in the Under Night series.
In a new trailer, they confirmed that Under Night In-Birth II would release in early 2024, and sport the whole roster of the previous Under Night games as well as new ones.
This includes guest characters like Akatsuki from Akatsuki Blitzkampf as well as Eltnum from Melty Blood.
They also confirmed that Under Night In-Birth II would feature rollback netcode, a first for the Under Night series.
The title releases on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch as well as PC via Steam, with development still being handled by French Bread, who also developed Melty Blood: Type Lumina.
Mechanically, it looks like Sys:Celes won’t be too different from previous Under Night titles, still prominently featuring the unique GRID system.
That being said, the video’s description on YouTube also promises new moves as well as new battle mechanics to set the game apart from previous titles.
People have been expecting an Under Night reveal at EVO for a while, ever since the game’s name was revealed via a Korean ratings board.
With the additional rollback announcement, Under Night now becomes the next series to feature rollback netcode after strong fan demand.
