As it the norm for Cygames titles and maybe just about every mobage, summer units are to be expected. For Uma Musume, we are getting two of them to start things off, where Special Week should not come off as a surprise, although the choice of Maruzensky is an interesting one.
Unlike vanilla Special Week, her summer version is geared more towards making her a Betweener, though the option of Leader is there as well. As before, you can train her to take on the mid and long track distances, with her balanced training bonuses accommodating either one. What is really interesting about summer Special Week is that her unique character skill is a heal, which will proc as long two skills are activated at the middle section of the race. The flexibility and ease of proccing said heal means you can omit Maestro altogether, although you may still want it for the longer tracks.
Summer Maruzensky is also another interesting unit especially for a runner, since she comes fully kitted with all the heals. With that in mind, you can easily run her in just about any distance, which makes her just as versatile as her vanilla version, but at the expense of having less acceleration and speed up abilities. Her unique character skill has a rather specific proc condition in that you will need to trigger a heal (on top of being in the lead in the later half of the race), though not be difficult given how many she has.
Uma Musume: Pretty Derby is currently available on Android and iOS for mobile, and DMM Games for the PC.
