Uma Musume adds new summer alts: Should You Pull?

With a new banner refresh that will last until 10 August 2022, we have the addition of the summer alts for Mejiro McQueen and Gold Ship to the Uma Musume stable.

It’s that time of the year again, and we are getting the obligatory summer units, although this it is rather surprising that McQueen is giving her second alt ahead of other girls who do not even have their first one.

In any case, let’s first go through Summer McQueen. Nothing especially out of the ordinary here, as she appears to be built for longer distances with the two heals that she gets out of the box. Like her other versions, Summer McQueen is best suited as a leader, and her long distance speed up abilities complement things nicely. She gets a decent spread in her training bonuses so you shouldn’t have any issues raising her. It doesn’t appear as though Summer McQueen will be shaking the meta up, so only roll if you want to complete your collection.

Gold Ship joins her grandfather and is gets her first alt to boot. Just like her vanilla version, Summer Gold Ship wants to be long distance chaser and gets a suite of skills to do just that. She gets a number of generic speed up abilities to work with, so you are going to have to get much better strategy-specific ones if you wish to run her, specifically due to the next point we about to address. Summer Gold Ship is the recipient of what is arguably the most intriguing unique character ability so far, in which she will randomly activate TWO gold abilities in the later portion of the race, ignoring their conditions. The implications are profound as it means you can be creative by teaching her strong abilities that she wouldn’t otherwise be able to use to tip the odds to your favour. Of course, what the two skills in question are remain to be seen, and there is also the randomness factor involved. Still, this could make Gold Ship a force to reckon with is it works, so you might want to bet on and roll for her.
