It has been announced that Ultraman will be having a crossover with the superheroes of the Marvel Universe in a new comic book miniseries. The crossover will premier in 2023.
This is the first time the two franchises have crossed over. The announcement was made alongside key art depicting Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel fighting the Ultra Kaiju Gomora (not to be confused with Marvel’s Gamora) with three Ultramen in the background: A Giant of Light, Ultraman, and Ultraseven.
The comic book giant has previously published Ultraman comics set in their own separate universe. These include The Rise of Ultraman, The Trials of Ultraman, and the upcoming series The Mystery of Ultraseven. According to Tsubaraya Productions, the crossover will also take place as part of the Marvel Ultraman Series.
“The crossover series will take place within the continuity of the current Marvel Ultraman comics, drawing on thematic comparisons between the stoic heroism of the Ultras and Marvel’s Earthly champions. No Kaiju or super villains were announced, but concept art unveiled during the Anime Expo event teased classic spiked Kaiju, Bemular. Further details of the storyline are still under wraps.”
All of these series, including the crossover, will be written by co-writers Kyle Higgins and Matt Groom.
If you’re looking for more Ultraman, the anime series has also recently premiered its second season on Netflix.
