Bandai has announced the UltimaGear Yu-Gi-Oh Millennium Puzzle, letting you recreate the iconic artifact from the Yu-Gi-Oh anime.
The UltimaGear Yu-Gi-Oh Millennium Puzzle will be available from August of this year, and can be bought for 3,850 Yen (RM145.54). Pre-Orders don’t appear to be open yet, however.
The item comes as a two-part model kit, requiring you to snap the pieces off the runners to form the actual pieces of the 3D puzzle- which you can then assemble to create the mighty relic owned by the King of Games.
The Millennium Puzzle is a key part of the first Yu-Gi-Oh series, containing the spirit of an ancient Pharaoh. In the anime, Yugi Moto is the only person who could assemble the puzzle, which causes him to be possessed by the spirit of the Pharaoh whenever he wants to play cards with someone.
It’s part of a set of items called the Millennium items, with various other characters in the anime having their own. Not all of them are inhabited by evil spirits though, with the main notable ones being the Millennium Ring owned by Bakura as well as the Millennium Rod owned by Duel City arc villain Marik.
Though the puzzle is lost at the end of the anime it returns and is a central plot point for the anniversary movie Dark Side of Dimensions, in which Yugi’s rival, Seto Kaiba, orchestrates an elaborate plan to put it back together and bring the Pharaoh back from the afterlife for another rematch.
