Ubisoft is reportedly delaying one of their big launches to next year, according to their latest financial report.
In the financial report, Ubisoft says that they’ve had a very successful Q2, with a Net income of 554.8 million Euros (roughly MYR 2.8 billion), dramatically passing their goal of 350 million Euros (roughly MYR 1.7 billion).
As a result, Ubisoft says they’re instead moving this unnamed title to the 2024-25 Fiscal Year.
“The overperformance in Q2 and the current positive momentum of Ubisoft’s brands build confidence for the rest of the year. The Company can therefore confirm its announced guidance of strong top line growth and non-IFRS operating income of approximately €400 million, without releasing the other large game it had initially planned to launch during the last quarter of the current fiscal year”, the statement explains. “The Company has decided to launch this other large game in FY2024-25, so as to maximize its value creation”.
There had been some speculation that this would be another delay for Skull and Bones– but the report expressly names that the title is still on track for its targeted release window.
“The lineup for the remainder of the fiscal year includes, on the premium side, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Just Dance® 2024 edition, Prince of Persia The Lost Crown and Skull and Bones, which is set to release during Q4 2023-24”.
Of the known titles in Ubisoft’s catalog, the only game likely to fill that role would be Star Wars: Outlaws- given the size of the Star Wars IP it makes sense that the game would be moved to support the 2024-25 fiscal year, though Ubisoft has not publicly confirmed or denied the speculation.
