Ubisoft has recently apologised about a technical issue regarding a pop-up ad that has been happening with certain Assassin’s Creed titles.
The issue had been brought up by Reddit user triddell24, who had been playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on Xbox where they reported seeing a full-screen Black Friday advert for Assassin’s Creed Mirage when opening up the in-game map, which blocked out their view.
Ubisoft had issued a statement over on Twitter where they go into detail about the technical error.
We have been made aware that some players encountered a pop-up message in-game while playing certain Assassin’s Creed titles yesterday. This was the result of a technical error that has now been fixed.

Ubisoft mentions that their intention was to display a promotion for Assassin’s Creed Mirage as part of the franchise news in the main menu of other Assassin’s Creed games.
The company promptly apologised about the technical error and is now fixed as of time of writing.
Based on the community notes on the statement that Ubisoft had released regarding the issue, it was stated that the same technical error had happened 4 years ago also with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey where the same issue of an ad which also had appeared when opening the map.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was released back in 5th October 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Windows.
