Type-Moon visual novel Mahoutsukai no Yoru, roughly translated as ‘Witch on The Holy Night’ will be coming to the Nintendo Switch and PS4 in 2022. This was revealed in Type-Moon’s New Year live stream.
These new ports will feature enhanced content including HD resolution and full voice acting.
This new port was announced shortly after previous news that Mahoutsukai no Yoru would be getting anime movie adaption by Studio Ufotable. The live stream also saw the game’s main character Aoko Aozaki being added to the fighting game Melty Blood: Type Lumina.
Mahoutsukai no Yoru sees Aoko as a high schooler and heir to the Aozaki family of mages. She is being trained in magecraft by fellow mage Alice Kunoji. Alongside the third main character, a young former assassin, Soujuurou Shizuki, the three explore the world of magic and mages as a dark force descends upon their town.
There is no word on whether the visual novel will see an English release. Type Moon’s latest visual novel, Tsukihime – A Piece of Blue Glass Moon, which was released in August of 2021, has not been released internationally, despite writer Kinoko Nasu showing interest in an English and Chinese release.
Mahoutsukai no Yoru will release on Nintendo Switch and PS4 in 2022, in Japan. An English fan translation of the original PC release has been launched.
