Two new Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure spin-off manga have started publishing over the weekend, further expanding the Jojo universe. Both manga were published in the January 2022 issue of Ultra Jump.
Crazy Diamond’s Demonic Heartbreak
The first new manga is titled ‘Crazy Diamond’s Demonic Heartbreak’. It is being written by Kouhei Kadono who had previously written the Jojo part 5 light novel Purple Haze Feedback. The art is by Tasuku Karasuma, the author of No Guns Life. This will be the first official Jojo spin-off manga to not be illustrated by original series author Hirohiko Araki.
The manga takes place ten years after the events of Jojo Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. Former minor villains, Hol Horse and Boingo travel to Morioh to track down a parrot who was owned by the original trainer of the falcon Pet Shop before they were killed by Dio Brando. Hol Horse also briefly meets with his old comrade Mariah before leaving. From here they meet with Ryuko, Kakyoin’s cousin visiting his grave, before encountering Jojo part 4 lead Josuke Higashigata himself. The first chapter ends with Josuke challenging Hol Horse to a fight.
The manga has an interesting perspective of showing the aftermath of the events of Part 3. Hol Horse, Boingo, and Mariah all show signs of trauma and PTSD from their time working for Dio. This is the first time these characters have been seen since the events of that arc.
Fujiko’s Bizarre Worldly Wisdom -Whitesnake’s Miscalculation-
This second manga is a one-shot from author and illustrator Sho Aimoto, who had previously worked on the dark fantasy series Kemono Jihen.
The 29-page one-shot takes during the earlier chapters of Part 6. Protagonist Jolyne Kujo has successfully retrieved her father, Jotaro Kujo’s memory disk leading to the villain Whitesnake attempting to send stand users after her to get it back.
The one-shot revolves around one of these stand users, the erotic artist inmate Fujiko Fujiyama, and her attempts to attack and stop Jolyne. However, she might just end up being more than Whitesnake can handle.
Do you plan on reading either of these Jojo manga? They certainly seem to fit the Bizarre aspect of the series.
