Square Enix made two big surprise announcements at The Game Awards 2023, with information on Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide, the two DLC for Final Fantasy XVI.
Both games are available via a special Expansion pass at a discounted price, with the Expansion Pass currently available at a discounted price.
Echoes of the Fallen is available today for PS5, and adds a new story chapter for Final Fantasy XVI as Clive and Joshua explore more of the origins of the Fallen.
The trailer shows off two new bosses in the fight, Sigma and Omega Aionios, the latter of which has a moveset that looks out of NieR Automata.
Meanwhile, The Rising Tide is set to release in Spring 2024, and features the return of Leviathan- the only Eikon suspiciously missing from the game’s main story.
We’re even treated to a glimpse of the Leviathan Eikon fight, with Leviathan looking like the second largest Eikon right behind Titan.
As with all Eikon fights, Clive even gets new moves from Leviathan in The Rising Tide, with this one focusing on a Tidal Meter that Clive needs to fill up to use his skills.
That’s not the only fight shown from the DLC, however, as the game prepares what might be the series hardest fight yet- the Tonberry King.
Despite originally mentioning not working on DLC during the game’s development, game producer Naoki Yoshida had mentioned that the team was interested in developing DLC following fan feedback.
