Now you can take your favorite football manga characters with you everywhere, with Tsubasa+. The game is based on the widely popular Captain Tsubasa manga, and is available now in Europe. It’s available for iOS and Android.
The game will be coming to worldwide, though not right now. However, the developers say their next release will include Japan, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Portugal and Switzerland. This launch window is scheduled for the 15th of October.
It uses your phone’s GPS to allow you to walk around a virtual world. You can check in to football stadiums, the natural habitat of virtual football players. From there, you can interact with other players by training or competing with them.
According to the trailers, they rationalize the lack of a full 11-on-11 game by having this one be about street football instead.
Tsubasa+ X Andres Iniesta Support
As with many things football, the game is also getting strong support in Europe. Footballer Andres Iniesta, who plays for Vissel Kobe, has become the world’s first Tsubasa+ Supporter. They haven’t shown if he’s actually going to be in the game, considering previous trailers mentioned the game would feature real-world players on top of manga characters.
He’s far from the only influencer tied to the game, though, as the Miraire says they’re currently looking for more celebrity athletes to get involved with the game.
