Tower Of Fantasy has announced the release date of its PS5 version, as well what appears to be a price tag for the otherwise free to play game.
According to the Tower of Fantasy PS5 store page, the game will release on the 8th of August, but all current versions of the game will be paid, starting at RM39 for the standard edition.
There are two more versions included, the Deluxe Edition (RM209) as well as the Ultimate Edition (RM419) which both include 48 hours of early access for the game as well as in-game rewards.
All three versions will also include the monthly pass for the game.
However, the official Tower of Fantasy PlayStation Twitter account denies that the game will be paid, leading some fans to theorize that a free to play version will appear on the store closer to the game’s actual release.
“It’s free to play, PlayStation Bundles are for discounted bonus and exclusive cosmetics~“, the account says.
We’ve reached out to Perfect World for clarification on the matter, and will update with their response.
This is just another in a long line of controversies that follow Tower of Fantasy- from using Honkai Impact assets in their trailer to allegedly copying Genshin Impact App Store reviews.
Most recently, fans had expressed frustration over the game’s console release not supporting cross-play or cross-progression- meaning that players would have to start a new account to play it on consoles, and couldn’t play with friends who were on other platforms.
