As part of the lead up to the second anniversary of Tower of Fantasy, Hotta Studio has said that they plan for the game to keep getting updated for at least the next 10 years.
In a post on their BiliBili page, the developers talked about the lead up to the 4.0 release for Tower of Fantasy, which aims to double down on the sci-fi elements of the open-world RPG as well as their desire for the game to keep going for another 10 years.
“[Our] production team has also grown and expanded at a healthy rate over the past almost two years”, the post reads. “Even some of the developers have come from Topsy-Turvy and have truly co-created with the players belonging to is. [We] have also been absorbing feedback from pioneers to continue iterating itself, so [we] secretly made a grand wish to accompany everyone for at least another 10 years!”.
They also once again acknowledged what they’re calling the “Retrospective Server”- an as of yet still unannounced project that was previously teased.
The brief mention seems to confirm fan theories- that rather than relaunching the game, Hotta Studio seems to be doing some kind of WoW Classic type situation, despite the original game only being 2 years old.
“The new opening of the retrospective service has an independent team, will not have any negative impact on the capacity and continuous optimization of the official service, and may be some popular adjustments in the case of not destroying the player experience, into the official service optimization”, the post reads.
