It looks like Tower of Fantasy may be getting a relaunch in the future, with Hotta Studio looking for feedback from the community to “rebuild the tower”.
In a post on BiliBili, the official account posted a link to a survey confirming that they intend to fix issues with the game, though didn’t specify what the problem was they would be focusing on.
“Question the curation! Understand curation! Transcend the planning! Fantasy is about to start up again, backtracking to rebuild the tower!”, the comment reads.
Instead, the account asks players for feedback that they can address, as part of what they’re referring to as the Co-Creation Retrospective Program.
In an expanded statement on Weibo, one developer says the intention of the project is to take the game back to its pre-launch state.
“We are now collecting survey for one reason…to rewind the time of ToF back to before the server is open. By combining player’s meaningful optimization recommendation, I will adjust the list for optimization content, then optimize and improve Tower of Fantasy according to the list, one by one”, the developer statement reads. “Once I conquered the list, we’ll invite players to welcome an even better Tower of Fantasy”
It should be noted that the English social media have not shared any similar kind of surveys, and GamerBraves has reached out to the developers for comment.
Tower of Fantasy has seen some success since its launch- the multi-platform MMORPG recently launched on PlayStation consoles, albeit with some caveats like a lack of cross-Save.
A relaunch for Tower of Fantasy wouldn’t be entirely unheard of- Final Fantasy XIV infamously relaunched and rebranded itself with A Realm Reborn, entirely credited for the game’s popularity.
Similarly, triple-A titles like Cyberpunk 2077 also featured post-launch fixes to address glaring criticisms of the title.
Admittedly there’s also the possibility that this isn’t a future relaunch of the title and rather just a way to source community feedback- the overall language of the posts has been hyperbolic and poetic, and things like “Rebuild the tower” and “rewind time” could just be alluding to the idea that no feedback is too extreme.
