The hypercasual games market experienced a slight decrease in Q3 2024, with total installs dropping by 12% to 2.98 billion compared to the previous quarter. Despite this overall decrease, several games managed to maintain their popularity, while a few newcomers made their mark on the top 10 list.
Leading the pack were familiar titles such as Race Master 3D – Car Racing, which saw a 31% increase in downloads quarter-over-quarter. Other mainstays included Build A Queen, Magic Tiles 3, My Perfect Hotel, Going Balls, and Car Race 3D: Car Racing. Pizza Ready! and Wood Screw Puzzle also held onto their positions, although they experienced significant drops in downloads of 40% and 23% respectively.
Two newcomers broke into the top 10 this quarter:
- Hole.io by VOODOO: Originally released in 2018, this game made a surprising comeback, securing the third spot with 23 million installs. The game’s resurgence was largely driven by increased popularity in India and Brazil. Hole.io offers various gameplay modes and customization options, which likely contributed to its renewed success.
- Snake Clash! by Supercent: Debuting at number 10 with 18 million downloads, this game has shown steady growth since its release in May 2023. Snake Clash! employs player-friendly mechanics to reduce frustration and encourage continued play. The game also utilizes effective monetization strategies and clear progression systems to keep players engaged.
The success of these games highlights the ongoing appeal of familiar concepts in the hypercasual mobile games market, as well as the importance of regionalized growth strategies and player-centric design in maintaining long-term popularity. While the overall market showed a downward trend, particularly in Tier-1 Western and Eastern countries, these top performers demonstrated that there’s still room for both established titles and innovative newcomers in the competitive hypercasual games landscape.
