The Six Invitational 2020 saw both the reveal of the Year 5/6 plans for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, as well as Operation Void Edge. The first season of Year 5 introduces Iana and Oryx, a new Attacker and Defender, from the Netherlands and Jordan respectively. With them comes an entirely reworked Oregon map, alongside gameplay changes and limited-time event.
Dutch Attacker Iana and Jordanian Defender Oryx are the dynamic duo of new Operators coming in Operation Void Edge. Iana pioneered topographical mapping software that allows her to generate a holographic representation of herself that she can command with her Gemini Replicator, during her study for her systems engineering doctorate. On activating the hologram, she can go inside it and control it. It moves and produces sound like she would, but is unable to shoot, melee or use secondary gadgets.
Oryx, meanwhile, is the unofficial second-in-command at Kaid’s Fortress, maintaining it during his absences as well as being his trusted advisor. Oryx is a heavily trained Operator who doesn’t use a gadget, but he does have his Remah Dash, capable of more than one application. Its speed lets him roam efficiently and cover short distances with unprecedented swiftness. Use it to knock down opponents or dash through breakable walls, at the cost of health. Oryx can also climb up hatches for increased tactical advantage over opponents.
Meanwhile, Oregon map has been reimagined with its rework. The basement, attic and office tower have been expanded. Experience the map for yourself to see the additional changes, in service of evolving the gameplay meta.
Additional game updates include the following:
- Debris replication tweak
- Changes to attackers’ drone spawn location
- Revamped player hub
- Changes to Lesion and Twitch
- Addition of Caveira Elite set
